Ketoconazole is an imidazole broad-spectrum antifungal drug, marketed under the trade names Gentamicin, Mycoconazole and Corynin, which inhibits the biosynthesis of ergosterol on fungal cell membranes by highly selective interference with the activity of the fungal cytochrome P-450. It is effective against both superficial and deep fungal infections, inhibiting both fungal growth and the transformation of spores into mycelium, preventing further infection. Low concentration inhibits fungus, high concentration kills fungus. It has an antibacterial effect on Candida spp., Coloring fungi, Coccidioides spp., Histoplasma spp. Clinically indicated for the treatment of ringworm, tinea pedis, ringworm of the skin, ringworm of the body, ringworm of the femur, thrush, lichen planus and cutaneous candidiasis.

1. Ketoconazole is antifungal drug for being used to treat athlete's foot and excessive dandruff.
2. Ketoconazole is used to treat candidiasis, chronic mucocutaneous candidiasis, oral thrush, candiduria, blastomycosis, coccidioidomycosis, histoplasmosis, chromomycosis, and paracoccidioidomycosis. Ketoconazole is an antifungal agent.
3. Ketoconazole for the treatment of the following systemic fungal infections: candidiasis, chronic mucocutaneous candidiasis, oral thrush, candiduria, blastomycosis, coccidioidomycosis, histoplasmosis, chromomycosis, and paracoccidioidomycosis.
