Tevanomycin, previously known as acetylisovaleryl tylosin (TAT), is a macrolide antibiotic. The mechanism of action is the same as that of other macrolide antibiotics. It binds to the 50S subunit of the nucleoproteome of sensitive bacteria and affects bacterial protein synthesis by blocking transpeptidation and/or mRNA displacement, thereby inhibiting peptide chain synthesis and lengthening.

1. Tylvalosin Tartrate is an impurity of Tylvalosin (T898210); Tylvalosin is an anti-bacterial agent that is shown through study as a good inhibitor of gram-positive bacteria.
2. Tevanomycin has antibacterial activity against a wide range of Gram-positive bacteria such as Staphylococcus, Micrococcus, Microbacterium, Bacillus, Corynebacterium, Aerococcus, Campylobacter, Enterococcus, Streptococcus, Arthrobacter and Clostridium; it also has good antibacterial activity against Mycoplasma and works better at high concentrations; however, it has no effect on most Gram-negative bacteria.
