Sulfamonomethoxine Sodium is a white or off-white crystalline powder, odourless, almost tasteless and darkens when exposed to light. It can be used to inhibit most Gram-positive and negative bacteria. It is a broad-spectrum antibacterial drug and is the most active sulfa drug in vitro and in vivo. It has a strong inhibitory effect on most Gram-positive and negative bacteria and the bacteria are slow to develop resistance to this drug. It has good antibacterial activity against both Gram-positive and negative bacteria such as Streptococcus pyogenes, Salmonella and S. pneumoniae. Sulfonamides are structurally similar to para-aminobenzoic acid and can compete with aminobenzoic acid for dihydrofolate synthase in bacteria, hindering the synthesis of dihydrofolate and ultimately affecting nucleic acid synthesis and inhibiting the growth and reproduction of bacteria. The action of sulphonamides can be antagonised by aminobenzoic acid and its derivatives (procaine, bupivacaine). In addition, pus, as well as tissue breakdown products, can also provide substances essential for bacterial growth, antagonising the effects of sulphonamides.

Function and Application of Sulfamonomethoxine Sodium CAS 1220-83-3
1. Sulfamethoxypyrimidine, or sulfamethoxypyrimidine, has a strong antibacterial effect and also has a significant effect on coccidia and toxoplasma. It is easily absorbed internally, has a low acetylation rate and is less likely to produce crystal urine and haematuria. It is used for the treatment of various sensitive bacterial infections and for avian coccidiosis and porcine toxoplasmosis. It has the strongest effect on Streptococcus, Pneumococcus, Salmonella, Bartonella, Corynebacterium septicum and Escherichia coli, and also has antibacterial effect on Staphylococcus, Bacillus deformans and Bacillus anthracis, so it is widely used for livestock and poultry respiratory, gastrointestinal and urinary tract infections.
2. Sulfamethoxine acts as a broad-spectrum antibacterial agent, effective against Streptococcus haemolyticus, Streptococcus pneumoniae and Escherichia coli. It is mainly used for the treatment of urinary tract infections and respiratory tract infections, and is also effective against mycoplasma, worker forms and coccidiosis in animals.
