Indomethacin, chemically known as 2-methyl-1-(4-chlorobenzoyl)-5-methoxy-1H-indole-3-acetic acid, belongs to BCS classification class II, with high permeability, low solubility, poor solubility and low bioavailability in vivo. Indomethacin is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAIDs) with anti-inflammatory, antipyretic and analgesic effects. It acts as an anti-inflammatory agent by reducing prostaglandin synthesis through the inhibition of cyclooxygenase, while the antipyretic effect is associated with the inhibition of prostaglandin synthesis in the inferior optic thalamus.
