D-cycloserine is a peptide broad-spectrum antibiotic produced by Streptomyceslavendulae and S. orchidaceus or chemically synthesized. It is white crystal, hygroscopic, soluble in water, soluble in lower alcohol, acet one and dioxa ne, insoluble in chloro form and petrole um eth er; stable in alkaline solution, but rapidly decomposed in acidic and neutral solution. In addition to Mycobacterium tuberculosis, it has inhibitory effects on most gram-positive and negative bacteria, rickettsiae and some protozoa, as well as on streptomycin, viomycin, para-aminosalicylic acid, isoniazid, pyrazinamide and other resistant Mycobacterium tuberculosis. Cycloserine and isoniazid have a mild synergistic effect on Mycobacterium tuberculosis H37RV, and neither synergistic nor antagonistic effect with streptomycin. The product is a bacteriostatic agent, and no bactericidal effect was observed with increased dose or extended duration of action with the bacteria.
