Carbazochrome is one of the most commonly used hemostatic drugs in clinical practice and is mainly used to stop bleeding in the retina. It can also be used in combination with gelatin to make hemostatic pads for local haemostasis. The mechanism of action is to increase the resistance of capillaries to injury and to reduce capillary fragility, thus achieving the purpose of haemostasis. It has no adrenomimetic effect and therefore does not affect blood pressure or heart rate. However, it enhances capillary resistance to injury, stabilises acidic mucopolysaccharides in the blood vessels and surrounding tissues, reduces capillary permeability and enhances the contraction of damaged capillary ends, thereby shortening the time to haemostasis. In addition, it also inhibits the synthesis and release of prostaglandin E (PCE), thereby reducing capillary permeability and preventing the exudation of thermogenic substances.

Function and Application of Carbazochrome CAS 69-81-8
1. Haemostatic agent. It is used for the holding of primary purpura, hereditary capillary dilation and to prevent bleeding from the lungs, kidneys, intestines, brain and uterus.
2. Carbazochrome product can reduce capillary permeability and promote the retraction of damaged capillary ends to stop bleeding. It is mainly used for bleeding caused by increased capillary permeability, such as idiopathic purpura, retinal bleeding, chronic pulmonary bleeding, gastrointestinal bleeding, epistaxis, haemoptysis, haematuria, haemorrhoid bleeding, uterine bleeding, cerebral haemorrhage, etc. Less effective in massive and arterial haemorrhage. Haemostatic agent for the holding of primary purpura, hereditary capillary dilation and prevention of bleeding from the lungs, kidneys, intestines, brain and uterus.
3. Carbazochrome is an oxidation product of Epinephri ne [E588580]) that improves microcirculatory tone. Derivatives such as carbazochrome salicylate and carbazochrome sodium sulfonate, are used as hemostats and treatment to prevent dengue shock syndrome, respectively.
