Argatroban is a synthetic anticoagulant and a reversible competitive thrombin inhibitor with a strong selective inhibitory effect on thrombin, inhibiting platelet aggregation caused by thrombin. Inhibition of fibrinase is weak. In vitro, inhibits thrombus generation in various models of thrombosis. This drug has been shown to be significantly more effective than heparin in preventing coronary thrombosis in experimental models, competitively inhibiting thrombin-induced platelet activation and aggregation. Unlike heparin, argatroban does not cause thrombocytopenia and does not further prolong bleeding time when aspirin is added. Preliminary studies have confirmed that this drug is an effective combination with aspirin for the prevention of coronary thrombosis. Argatroban is effective in unstable angina.
